Remembering Matthew Bee
Matthew Bee, touched countless people's lives through his innate kindness, humor, talent, and infectious smile. In his early adulthood, Matthew struggled with mental health and substance abuse issues. Although he had periods of recovery, he tragically lost his precious life to the disease of addiction on September 16, 2017, at only 21 years old.
The void of Matthew is felt daily, but his infinite warmth lives on. Matthew was a creative soul who had a love for music and found peace in the outdoors with surfing, skateboarding, and snowboarding. He lived with a spirit of generosity and fearlessness that lifted those who knew him. The Bee family’s devastating loss inspired a mission to help others that share the same struggles as Matthew, find recovery and a new beginning.
The Matthew Bee Memorial Fund was created by Lisa Bee and is supported by her family and The Hansen Foundation. Born from years of love for Matthew, the fund reflects the family’s desire to help others by expanding access to support and carrying his spirit forward. Founded on the belief that a meaningful life in recovery is possible with the right care, the fund ensures that Matthew’s memory lives on every day by helping individuals and families affected by addiction access treatment and other essential services.
Hope grows where love shows up - and healing begins when a community chooses to care.
